For Readers | Favorite Reads
I remember the first time I saw the movie Back to the Future. As the credits rolled, I literally thought to myself that I wished I hadn't seen it yet, so I could have the absolute joy of seeing it again the first time.
Well, I have that experience with books, too. Like most writers, I've been reading for as long as I can remember. Over the years, I've gathered some favorites - books I love to read again and again. These are the authors whose books make the top of my list, and whose books I rush to buy - even in hardcover! They are the ones who inspire me to write.
Jennifer Crusie - Tell Me Lies made me a fan for life. Fortunately, Jenny just keeps getting better - Faking It was filled with rueful truths.
Suzanne Brochmann - Her Team Sixteen series is unmatched - like everyone else, I am eagerly awaiting Sam and Alyssa's story.
Susan Elizabeth Phillips - Nobody's Baby But Mine was a revelation - and It Had to Be You a sheer delight. I bought one of her books because she spoke at one of the first writing conferences I attended, and she had me rolling on the floor. The books do the same, but they also evoke happy tears.
Janet Evanovich - The trials and tribulations of Stephanie Plum never fail to cause me to laugh out loud.
I've read and enjoyed every one of the books by these authors. Their books are all on my keeper shelves:
Georgette Heyer
Dick Francis
Joan Smith
